Between Shots

Between Shots golf bookBetween Shots
What Meets the Eye and Comes to Mind on the Links

Between Shots immerses golfers in links golf.  This introduces many of the inhabitants of the British Isles who hosted the author during his various 20 visits and recounts incidents occurring in the most plentiful segment of time on the course, as the title suggests, between shots.

The author travels around the links of the British Isles.  In no particular order, he takes you back and forth between the past and present, stopping between shots with essays on remarkable experiences engendered on the links.  It’s a darn good walk no matter how high the grass where you are looking for your shot.

The familiar names are here, Muirfield, Carnoustie, St. Andrews, Turnberry, Ballybunion, Portrush and County Down, but many lesser known that are worth the journey across the pond in their own right. Twenty-five full color photographs feature links recently discovered by the author.  This is a companion book to Across the Pond.

From northern Scotland to the West country of England and little visited parts of Ireland, be ready for some eye-popping and mind- opening golf.

Limited edition of 300 copies.

What They’re Saying About the Book

Mike Schaefer’s thoughtful essays on the seaside links in Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland are immensely readable.  Also worth having is the supporting information on B&B’s, pubs, and even one irresistible movie, not to mention haunting moments from World War II and the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland.  And oh yes, the simple pleasure of playing Foursomes golf.  Between Shots is a delight and I enjoyed it no end.
James W. Finegan, Author, Where Golf Is Great

An entertaining exploration of some lesser-known links courses  in the British Isles
John Pearson, Editor, British Golf Collectors Magazine

Between Shots is a wise and joyful sojourn to some of my favorite corners of the golfing world. From the people, to the putts, to the pubs Michael Schaefer has put his finger on the magic that is a day on a true links. If you have played the links of the British Isles, this book will bring you right back. And if you haven’t, consider this book your remedy.
